It might scare you, when bridal guides say that weddings require a prior 8-10 month planning and talk about all the yearly preparations that are essential for it to turn out perfect! I agree, weddings can be taxing, but with the right tips and instructions while being organised (very important), yes, you can have your dream wedding. Main piece of advice: focus on planning a budget and sticking to it.

  1. Focus on the basics

Plan your budget and accordingly, the venue and then immediately pick a date (in the same order)! Pick a venue that is all-inclusive, of catering and the other necessities. You can save time by scheduling your wedding ceremony at the same location as your reception. In case you are having trouble figuring a wedding location, consider hiring a wedding planner. Wedding planners are a know-it-all when it comes to all the aspects of planning, it will be of great help to you! Consider picking a date which isn’t a Saturday or the weekend so that it helps increase your probability of finding a wedding vendor on such a short notice.

If you don’t have a budget to hire a wedding planner, online wedding planning sites like WedMeGood will come to your rescue. You can search banquet halls in Delhi, Mumbai and in any city you are getting married in. You can also check their pricing and availability and contact them as well through the site and the app.

  1. Plan a guest list.

Decide on your guest list as soon as you are done planning the basics. While planning on a 3-month wedding timeline, it’s a good idea to keep your guest list as small as possible. You could keep it close – just families and close friends and don’t worry, you could throw a post-wedding party to the second/third cousins and office colleagues. This will make finding a venue and vendors much easier.  Also, sending invitations won’t be a huge task.

  1. Create a vendor team.

If you’re working with an extremely quick timeline, then wedding planners are necessary. Caution: with a shorter planning span, you probably won’t have a lot of vendors that are available, to choose from. Share some responsibilities with friends and family members to help you research and hire the following vendors:

  • Professional photographer (to capture all the glam sham moments on your big day!)
  • Makeup Artist (Because you want to look glam on your big day!)
  • Entertainment (Hire a DJ to keep your guests entertained)
  • Florist (Don’t be too specific, instead let your style be flexible and keep things simple)
  • Caterer and cake (if your wedding venue doesn’t offer catering then look for a large catering company that’s less likely to be totally booked.
  • A week before your wedding, be sure to reach out to your wedding vendors to confirm all the details and be sure to provide all of your vendors with a wedding-day timeline to ensure things function properly.

Download the Wedding planning app from WedMeGood and the app will keep reminding you for the stuff that you need to do with their exclusive wedding checklist. You can also find and contact vendors on the go through your mobile phone that will help you save further time and money.

4.    Bridal trousseau.

Shop your wedding wardrobe as soon as possible. If you’re looking for a wedding dress, check with bridal stores to see if they are having any samples or if they sell gowns off-the-rack. If you’re fixed on having the traditional bridal outfit experience, know that you should order a wedding gown at a designer boutique and pay an extra amount since you’re running out of time. Also make sure you purchase the jewellery and other outfits you will need for the pre-wedding ceremonies.

5.    Invitations

You will need a minimum of seven weeks to contact an invitation designer, get your invitations printed and mailed. Look out for a local printer who has a short turnaround time. Or you could always opt for the modern- digital invites, it is easy and customisable, helps you save time and postage costs. No matter how short your wedding planning timeline is, you should still try to send out your invitations about six weeks in advance to give your guests enough time to plan ahead.
