I have very fizzy hair and dry ends. All these days I have been using chemical infused hair products. I was in search of something which is free from SLS, Paraben and all those chemicals. The Body shop is the first name that comes to my mind for their vast range of skincare, bodycare and hair care products which are free from all those harsh chemicals. I am a huge fan of TBS for their body butters and skincare range and finally bought-  The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Shampoo for Dry Hair and conditioner.

My Experience With The Body Shop Rainforest Shampoo

I have used both the Rainforest Moisture Shampoo for Dry Hair and the conditioner religiously, nearly finished the bottles and honestly I am quite disappointed with this stuff as they did nothing for my dry hair. The name suggests that they were for dry hair but this shampoo made my hair more rough and fizzy. Okay, I am not comparing a chemical shampoo with a chemical free shampoo as we all know that most SLS, Paraben and chemical free shampoos have little bit drying effect than the usual ones. But I believe the dryness comes from Salicylic Acid and Citric Acid.

Salicylic acid as we all know is very effective for oily and acne/pimple prone skin.  Salicylic acid is used for a number of different skin conditions caused by thickened, hard skin, such as warts, psoriasis, scaly skin conditions, and many more. Whereas Citric acid is a weak organic acid found in many fruits and vegetables. It is a natural preservative/conservative and is also used to add an acidic or sour taste to foods and drinks. Therefore I would say that those who have oily scalp/oily hair can definitely use this shampoo.

Yes, I did notice a decrease in hair fall while using this shampoo. I agree with the fact that it does not have silicones, sulphates, parabens and colourants  and is very effective in cleansing scalp. It gives a proper thorough cleanse (you can actually feel it after a wash), and restores scalp’s Ph-balance making it smooth and shiny. Yes, it makes my hair shiny which I never got before using any other shampoo. It makes my hair strong and soft with less breakage i.e No hair fall during hair wash.

The consistency of the shampoo is just like water- No Color!! It looks like water with slightly thick texture. Lathers pretty well, the SA advised me not to use directly on hair (no exact reason but I followed what she advised). I need very less amount because all you have to do is fix it with little water and then use it. The bottle is a see through; you can see how much quantity is left in the bottle. The whole bottle lasted me for more than 3 months. It also contains “The Body Shop Community Fair Trade” organic aloe vera and Olive oil along with other oils like kernal oil and Macroloba Seed Oil which is high in behenic acid and helps keep hair smooth and silky.

The Body Shop-Rainforest Moisture Shampoo for Dry Hair

  • I need very less, and therefore shampoo lasts longer.
  • Water like consistency, lathers quite nicely.
  • It cleanses my hair very effectively and restores scalp’s ph-balance.
  • My hair is now soft and shiny.
  • Most importantly it helped my hair fall problem.
  • Less breakage during hair wash which means it suits my hair pretty well.
  • See through bottle packaging, you can actually get another bottle before the first one runs out.
  • Contains salicylic acid which heals and protects any scalp problem.
  • Contains citric acid as a natural preservative.
  • Contains Community Fair Trade organic aloe vera and olive oil along with other healthy oils.
  • Those who have normal to oily hair can also use it. I think it’s best for them.
  • No silicones, no sulphates, no parabens and no colourants.

The Body Shop-Rainforest Moisture Shampoo for Dry Hair

  • It is Expensive.
  • Not for super dry and fizzy hair! Rather it is good for oily or normal hair types.

COSMOCHICS RATING:  3.5/5 (only because it didn’t do anything good to my fizzy hair and dry ends) :/ :/

“INFO ON A SILVER PLATTER”- Girls, Honestly- Those who have normal to oily hair and looking for a chemical free shampoo then this is the best for you! Also, if you don’t have fizzy hair you can definitely invest here. I know it didn’t work out for me but it may work for you… skincare and hair care are very subjective and depends on person to person.

Thanks… take care all <3 🙂

    1. Absolutely No Mily. I am quite disappointed. but again its organic so it wll not make that smooth and fizz free like chemical shampoo does.

    1. Rhea. This is best for oily scalp. its cleans and treat scalp problems pretty well. for fizzy mane u need a heavy duty hair mask. try TBS hair butter. its nice. 🙂

    1. yeah it is but again i am not that pissed bcoz all organic and chemical free shampoo and conditioners are little drying..

  2. I bought this shampoo and Forest Essentials mashobra honey and vanilla hair cleanser. Both meant for dry hair, bothvare sls free and all that. I’d heard good reviews of TBS shampoo but ive had a far far better experience with forest essentials. The price is similar and it really helps my dry hair. You could give it a try!!

  3. Spot on review! I also have dry and frizzy hair. This product definitely reduces my hair fall and breakage. It also made my hair smooth but the frizz just got worse!
