Handbags, purses and all type of bags require special care. Sadly, many people assume that bags aren’t something that should be taken care of. Once upon a time our love bomb (AKA our bags), now lie in the house somewhere, lost and crying out loud for some attentiveness and care.

Oh, it takes my peace of mind away, every time I think how cruel I have been with these lovely inventions that not just carry my essentials everywhere but believe me, have helped others steal a glance for making a fashion statement!

But as they say, you can’t learn anything from a mistake until you admit it so here I am spiling all beans, that previously I have never cared a whit about bags! However, as another saying goes that you learn from your mistakes, I have been a good girl and have started caring more about them. So here are my top 5 tips on how to properly take care of your bags.

Keep dust bags to take care of handbags:

Bags come packed in dust bags and an outer hard/soft cardboard box for a reason. And the primary one is so that one can wrap and pack the bags away if and when they are not in use. High fashion shoes and bags call their dust bags sleeper bags! For a reason my friend! It is a place where your bags can happily live and breathe.

They don’t need water and sun for nourishment like humans, so don’t leave them on your sofa or worse, the dining table.

Usually, dust bags are made up of muslin or cotton, and they are specifically designed to save your bags from dust, weather, water and oil.Careful tip: But what if you do not have a dust bag? Your pillow covers can work pretty well, just like dust bags.

Use fillers to keep bags in proper shape:

Right after dusting and cleaning of the bag, it is crucial to fill the bags with fillers so that the handbags retain its shape. Inflatable air pockets, tissue papers and bubble wraps are used for the same.

Protect your handbag:

Your beloved handbags deserve a seat of its own. So, the next time you meet your friends at luncheon or pay a brief visit to the washroom of a mall, remember not to disrespect your bag by keeping it on the floor, any floor!

Consider this as an honest confession, but every time I see a woman keeping her prized possession in a dirty space or floor, my heart cries out loud.

Bags do collect dust and germs. And by placing them on the floor, we are just exposing bags to bacterias.

In addition to the above, picking up your bag after cleaning your hands is equally crucial. No one would like to transfer the excessive oil or spices from their hands to the bag, exposing it and making it more vulnerable to dampness and what not!

Use liners & organisers for bags

Handbag liners & organisers protect the inside of the bags, keeps your things organised and also the bag in shape. You can buy liners or sew one for yourself! There are various organisers available in the market to help you organise bags like a pro.

Storage:

Now once when you have taken your bag on a ride and after one gigantic round of the whole town, when both of you come to your lovely home, it is time to store the bag in a proper place. It should not be hanged in a cupboard or stacked one on top of the other.

Place your bags carefully on a shelf with a little distance between each bag or if in case you are short on shelves purchase good quality Foldable hanging purse organisers for your wardrobe. The best feature about these hanging organisers is that they are wall-mounted storage organisers and can be hooked behind your bedroom door too!
