“Never did the world make a queen of a girl who hides in houses and dreams without traveling,” said novelist Roman Payne. So gather up your girls and plan the ultimate, most decadent road trip, fit for a queen. From beautifying luxuries like facials and manicures at the hotel to blasting pop music and singing during the entire drive, hitting the road with your besties is a fabulous way to see some sights, take in a bit of culture, and pamper yourself. So say goodbye to the men and get ready for an all-girls getaway.

Go All Out on Comfort

When you think of a pampering session, you might also think of comfy robes, pajamas, fluffy pillows, in-room massages, room service, and maybe even satin sheets. Make staying arrangements with an establishment that offers plenty of amenities to fulfill your pampering needs. In the same vein, don’t forget to make your drive nice and comfy too, as a prelude for the relaxation to come. Staying comfortable on the drive itself is just as important as the final destination. Make the trip in a vehicle that has plenty of leg space for stretching out and cargo space to pack all of your necessities.

Shop ‘til You (Almost) Drop

Women and shopping it’s a cliche for a reason. To maximize your time and stay stress-free, scout out all of the prime shopping areas near your destination prior to your trip. This way, you’ll know exactly where you’re going to be shopping. This allows you to plan other additions to your shopping spree, like a lavish and leisurely lunch. Be sure to set aside some time for resting afterward; as you know, shopping can be pretty tiring!

Take in the Culture

Even if your destination isn’t particularly exotic, chances are there is something special and specific to the area. Look for a popular local restaurant that serves a particular dish or offers locally made craft beer. Locally-owned bookstores, clothing stores, or specialty shops are a great way to learn more about the area, as well as pick up some souvenirs and support small businesses. If you want to dive in a bit deeper, look up local events that are available during your stay. Things like local bands, theater performances, and art shows are all wonderful activities that help you make memories and form a unique travel experience.

Most women agree that they always put others first, and while it may be in your nature to do exactly that, you need to learn to let go and take care of yourself every once in a while. It’s a simple concept, self-care, but it often gets shoved to the bottom of the list. Taking a road trip, short or long, serves as a getaway from your daily stress and responsibilities. That’s exactly what you need to refresh your body and revitalize your spirit; the very essence of self-care.
