Maybelline Colour Sensational High Shine Lipstick 840 Coral Lustre: Review & Swatches

Standing at the Maybelline counter I was quite confused as to what shade should be picked up, the lady at the counter gave me coral lustre and said “ma’am this is quite a popular shade and would suit you well” I saw the tube and smiled at her. (does she think i belong to the circus!!! It looked so orange and pink) but she insisted that I should give it a try, at least, I did and ooh la la… what a pretty shade it was. I bought it instantly, came home, applied it several times, checked all the mirrors, and felt a gush of happiness inside. Needless to say this was my first coral and this was the lippy responsible for my coral love story :).

So I can proudly say…I too had a Coral love story !!! LOL…

Maybelline high shine comes in a metallic silver packaging, which looks better than the regular Maybelline lipsticks. Talking about the formula, it’s not very creamy but quite moisturising. It works like a lip balm for me. “CORAL LUSTER” glides smoothly and does not pull or dry the lips at all. It has tiny shimmer particles in it. It would have been better if they weren’t there, but any which ways, they are not bothersome at all. It is quite comfortable to wear too.

Colour is a very youthful and vibrant coral. Gives a perfect blend of pink and orange colour. It leans more towards pink, which makes it an everyday shade. It’s quite easy to pull off this colour. It’s a nice, bright summery shade that lifts your face instantly:)
Pigmentation wise its Okay. One swipe does not show the true colour. It’s quite sheer. You have to build it up to show some colour. It’s quite shiny like the Maybelline water shine lipsticks. It gives that kind of watery shine which looks very young. It lasts for not more than 2 hours after which it leaves a pink tint on the lips.

1)  It gives the perfect coral colour.

2)  I like the formula as well. Combination of creaminess with the moisturisation is good.

3)  It’s available easily.

1)   The staying power is less.

2)   Presence of glitter particles is not bothersome but I feel that they weren’t needed.

3)   The price of this lipstick should be a little low, considering the staying power and colour build up.
