Nykaa is going crazy with their launches, and it’s really difficult to keep up with them seriously!!! The moment I saw the Nykaa Skin Genius Foundation, I knew I had to buy it, especially when it claims to be clever about coverage. It is very difficult to buy foundations online and with the limited shade options that it becomes difficult to buy foundations over the beauty counters as well, but if a product has the capability of adapting to your skin tone you don’t need to worry about going a tinge lighter or darker than your actual skin tone.

My Experience With The Nykaa Skin Genius Sculpting & Hydrating Foundation
The packaging is not really fancy, it’s a basic plastic bottle with a black cap. When you unscrew the cap you will see that it has a flat nozzle, not even a pointed one, which I would have preferred because the foundation is quite runny in consistency and you can always go overboard if not careful.

The consistency reminds me of the Mac Face and Body Foundation. Because it’s thin and watery, you don’t really need any tool to apply this foundation, it blends so easily that your fingers can you do the job but if you don’t like it then go ahead with a foundation brush but not with a sponge blender because it will soak up most of the product.

It provides a sheer coverage and looks natural so if you are into a no-makeup-makeup zone then this will suit your needs. The second layer will build up the coverage but do not expect it to go opaque and hide imperfections. This foundation evens out the skin tone making your look skin look naturally radiant and healthy while covering or blurring minor flaws. The lasting power of 4 to 5 hours without a primer and it does not feel heavy or oxidise on me. About the Clever coverage, I think it is true if you go one shade lighter or darker. I bought the shade Warm Sand which is a tad bit dark for me but it matches perfectly to my skin tone after a while and does not look ashy on the darker areas of my face (under my eyes and around the mouth, neck). The shades seem to have a fair amount of yellow tone in them so they will go well with Indian skin tones. This foundation is hydrating so its great for people with dry to combination skin. The formula feels light on the skin and does not settle into the pores or fine lines.

You will not like Nykaa Skin Genius Sculpting & Hydrating Foundation if…

  • You are looking out for heavy coverage because it’s got a very translucent coverage and can be built up only slightly.
  • You have oily skin because after a few hours it starts feeling tacky on the oily zones and has to be touched up with a mattifying powder.
  • If you like a flat Matte finish because this is a dewy and hydrating foundation.

Info On a Silver Platter

I am satisfied with Nykaa Skin Genius Sculpting & Hydrating Foundation because it is a great option for everyday wear when you need a light natural coverage and don’t want to invest a lot of time in blending the product. In case of humidity (which is pretty much all the time in Mumbai) when my skin feels oily after a few hours, a slight touch up with a mattifying powder is enough, it also elongates the wear time. For times when I need extra coverage, I just dab my favorite L’Oreal Trumatch powder over it and I’m good to go, I have also heard that it works well with The Nykaa Skin Genius Compact, but I haven’t tried it personally so cannot comment.
