Hi Ladies!

I guess by now everybody knows about my love for lipsticks! So it was very obvious when Mac announced its “Matte lip collection 2014” I was very excited. I was aware that it is going to be out of stock in a minute here in India so I grabbed four beautiful matte lipsticks from a seller. The lipsticks are Damn Glamorous, La vie en rouge, Nouvelle Vogue and Pander me.

Also, read full review and have a look at the swatches of MAC Fashion Revival Lipstick The Matte Collection 2014 🙂

Few words from Mac about the Matte lip collection:-

The Matte Lip is here to stay. Create a standout look with the fashion-forward new shades of our iconic matte lipstick. Vibrant hues like fuchsia Velvet Violet and La Vie En Rouge are a bold contrast to the rich burgundy of Fashion Revival and nude of Styled in Sepia. For the best in colour intensity, Pro Longwear Lip Pencils in super-saturated shades to make a modern statement. Go for the cool rouge of Trust in Red or boost it up with new Bespoken For, a dark, creamy plum. For a polished finish, accent with the soft, pinky hues of Pro Longwear Blush – long-lasting colour that’s purely fabulous.

The collection has the following products:-

Lipstick shades for this collection are Styled in Sepia, Pander Me, Nouvelle Vogue, Damn Glamorous, La Vie En Rouge, Fashion Revival, Living Legend and Heroine.

Lip pencils (Pro Longwear Lip Pencils in Etcetera, Staunchly Stylish, Trust in Red, Fashion Boost, Absolutely It and Bespoken For).

Blush (Pro Longwear Blush in I’m a Lover, Fleeting Romance and Make You Mine) is limited edition too.

Okay so according to Mac the lipsticks are described as following:-

Nouvelle Vogue is a matte soft blue pink, Damn Glamorous is a matte bright pink red, La Vie En Rouge is a matte bright orange coral, Pander me is a matte soft peachy Mocha.

My Experience With Mac Matte Lipstick 2014

These lipsticks are limited edition lipsticks and till now there is no news regarding these lipsticks becoming permanent like the retro matte lipsticks that were launched last year. But being limited edition the lipsticks comes in a regular packaging similar to the regular line of Mac lipsticks. Thankfully they are priced as regular line of lipsticks too. 😛

The Matte lip collection has everything in matte. The 4 lipsticks that I pick are all matte in texture. But these are not so drying like the retro matte lipsticks. No pulling effect can be seen while applying these lipsticks. These are creamy matte which glides smoothly on lips and doesn’t make my lips dry at all! The lipsticks are all quite pigmented and the darker shades stay little longer than the neutral ones.

All the shades have approx. six hours staying power without any fading. The darker shades like Damn glamorous and La vie en rouge leaves a strong stain of color even after the lipstick is removed…while the neutrals start fading after 5 and half hours and doesn’t leave any stain on lips.

So here are the Pros and cons of the collection:-

Turn On: Mac Matte Lipstick

1)    Nice collection.

2)    Many shades of lipsticks to choose from the collection.

3)    Regular packaging so not overpriced on the name of “limited edition”.

4)    Matte texture of lipsticks. Just bliss for Matte lipstick lovers.

5)    Presence of versatile shades from neutrals to glamorous.

Turn Off: Mac Matte Lipstick

1)    Limited edition collection so most of the lipsticks are already out of stock. 🙁

Hey! The review isn’t over yet! Coming to the dupable controversy:-

Well, every lipstick always have a dupe or near about shades either in the same brand or in some other brands. And these lipsticks too have dupes and that too in same brand…MAC! Few that I recognize …they are …

(a) The lipstick Damn Glamorous looks very similar to Mac by request “Glam” on my lips.

(b) Next the lipstick La vie en rouge is quite similar to Mac Relentlessly Red but La vie en rouge is little more coral than Relentlessly Red.

(c) Nouvelle vogue is nearly same to Mac lipstick pink plaid, except the undertones are bit different which made the lipsticks more appealing on Indian fair skin tones.

(d) Mac matte lipstick Pander me is near about same with Mac lipstick “Mocha” except pander me looks more peachy brown on me than Mocha.

Well, so here are my lip swatches of all 4 lipsticks…

COSMOCHICS RATIING: 5/5

INFO ON A SILVER PLATTER”- As you can see these four lipsticks are easily dupable so if you skipped this collection then definitely you should not regret. But if you are fond of Matte lipsticks you can always pamper yourself! 🙂
