Jovees Veg Peel Pack: Review & Swatches

Jovees is one brand I had not heard of before, and while hunting for good face packs I came across this pack. Though I was skeptical about buying it, but still thought to give it a try because it claimed to be a miraculous pack. So here goes my experience…

WHAT JOVES CLAIMS: Veg peel from Jovees is an excellent formulation that will help to minimize scars caused by acne, pimples, burns, tanning and pigmentation and will make skin look visibly clear and even tone. It also helps in removing dead cells, black heads.

USAGE: Clean face preferably with Jovees Citrus Cleansing Milk. Make a thin paste of Veg Peel powder using rose or cucumber toner.
Apply all over face and neck. Gently massage for 3-4 minutes. Leave on for 10 minutes. Pour a few drops of Jovees Rose or Cucumber toner on the skin through a cotton swab dipped in the toner. Gently massage the skin with finger tips using upward and outward strokes for 2-3 minutes.
Then wash face with plain water. Apply a light moisturiser, preferably Jovees white water lily moisturiser.

KEY INGREDIENTS: Almond Powder, Henna Powder, Yeast Powder, Wheat Grain.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH JOVEES VEG PEEL PACK

This pack came in a plain white plastic tub. It is in powdered form which is enclosed in a zip lock pouch. It smells majorly of/like sandal powder.

About heena I always used to feel that it was only used for body art or hair colouring but I was completely ignorant about its skin care properties so thought of doing a little research and here’s what I found out …..

Heena is a herb which is used to improve skins defense against infections. It does this by working to eliminate or reduce the occurrence of harmful bacteria on your skin. It also has skin cooling properties and also improves blood circulation.
I don’t have major imperfections to treat but yes sometimes I suffer from a few breakouts which obviously leave redness and scars behind. It was this hot humid summertime when I had a few scars, tan and slight blemishes on my skin, this is when I decided to put this pack on test. I did not use it with the Jovees toner and used my fabindia rosewater instead (REVIEW HERE) to make a paste out of this powder.

As you can see in the pictures when mixed with rosewater, it forms a nice paste with thick granules. It’s quite cumbersome to make this paste since it doesn’t get mixed easily. Using this pack is quite a messy affair.
When I used the pack according to the instructions on the pack, I found it very harsh maybe because of the over scrubbing.

I basically applied the pack, let it dry, then scrub it off and wash, this way it worked like a wonderful exfoliating pack.

Results: Yes it does work on scars, my scars faded to an extent of invisibility but I am not sure about its effect on severe acne scars. Pigmentation had lightened and the texture of the skin improved. It made it smooth and glowy.
However you have to be regular with this pack to see any results.
Another thing to be noted is that it is slightly drying hence a moisturiser is a must after washing or off. I have found out yet another way of using it which is even more effective. I mix this pack with curd. Curd is rich in lactic acid and is known for its skin lightening abilities plus it makes the pack more moisturizing. If you have a very dry skin you can even add honey.

1)   This pack is very effective.

2)   It’s economical.

3)   Exfoliates well so no scrubbing required separately.
TURN OFF: JOVEES VEG PEEL PACK

1) Using it is Messy work.

2) Its drying.

3) A Little harsh on skin.

4) Leaves a white cast after rinsing.
