picHow many of us really care about our feet? Not many I am sure. After starting the shoe wardrobe series on Cosmochics both Garima and I realised how easily our feet becomes dry and believe me the first step to crack heel is the dryness and thick dead skin on it! So here I am with yet another do it yourself at home. These are easy and simple to do methods.

1) Apply a mixture of coconut oil/castor oil/mustard oil and turmeric powder on cracked heels. It will help heal the cracks.

2) Usage of olive oil or sesame oil also helps remove the cracks. Firstly scrub your feet with a pumice stone for the removal of dead skin from the heels.  After washing your feet apply the oil. (It is advisable to go to bed after this so that the oil penetration is deep enough into the skin. Do not overuse the pumice stone on the skin especially if your skin is sensitive).

3) Vaseline petroleum jelly is by far the most effective way to heal cracked heels! I usually scrub my feet wash it and apply the jelly liberally. After this I wear my socks and go to bed. What I get in the morning is a pair of soft and smooth feet!

 4) This is a pedicure method- In a small tub full of hot water add half cup Epsom salt and soak feet for at least 20 minutes. Pat dry your feet after rubbing with pumice stone. Mix one ripe banana with lemon juice; apply the paste for another 20 minutes & then wash with clear water. Cover your feet by a cloth or pair of socks for at least two hours after applying heavy moisturiser.

5) Combine ¼ cup Listerine, ¼ cup vinegar and ½ cup of hot water. The water should be hot enough so that you can sit with your feet soaked in this mixture for 20 minutes. After soaking, immediately gently rub your heels with a pumice stone, wash again and apply crack heel cream or similar cream, wear socks and go to bed!

(P.s. if you are not comfortable sleeping with your soaks on then just let your feet be covered with it for two hours and then remove.)

“INFO ON A SILVER PLATTERApart from all the above easy home remedies you can also gift yourself a relaxing foot spa once in a while in a salon. Our feet are the most neglected part of our body. (P.S. if the crack is deep I would suggest seeing a skin specialist. Also if there is any irritation experienced during any of the above remedies please wash with cold water immediately and apply any cream like vicco turmeric, boroplus, boroline etc. whichever is available at your home)
